Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rites and ceremonies.

He is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

  • Ganesh dances lightly atop the poisonous serpent Kalinga who, in a tale involving Krishna, was poisoning the Yamuna river
  • He holds the tail of Kalinga and dances on his head
  • Ganesh holds his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic, an elephant goad and a laddu that his trunk is playfully trying to eat

This brass statue is made in Bali and is 10 inches tall.
